The Robeson County and Fairmont communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of 18-year-old Ta’nyah Lynn Pittman, a Fairmont High School student who tragically died in a devastating single-vehicle crash on Saturday evening. Her sudden passing has left family members, friends, classmates, and loved ones in deep grief as they struggle to process a loss that came far too soon.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Lizzie Road near Iona Church Road when a 2013 Kia traveling westbound veered off the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned multiple times. The vehicle eventually came to rest upside down in a nearby field.
Investigators confirmed that Ta’nyah, who was seated in the front passenger seat, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was partially ejected through the sunroof during the rollover. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but she was pronounced deceased at the scene by Robeson County EMS. Her body was later transported to UNC Health Southeastern.
The driver sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to McLeod Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment. Authorities have not yet released the driver’s identity as the investigation remains ongoing.
